For the exhibition Malum. Veritas., Patricia Lambertus developed a new body of work.

The exhibition takes Frankfurt’s apple-wine culture as its point of departure, with its rituals, objects, and social spaces. In her work, Lambertus turns back to the apple itself — a motif that has travelled through art and cultural history, carrying associations of desire, knowledge, temptation, and decay, while also acquiring new meanings within contemporary technological culture.

For these cyanotypes, Lambertus uses real apples directly within the photographic process. Exposed onto photosensitive paper, the fruit leaves traces shaped by light, duration, and chance.

The resulting images acquire a distinctly painterly quality. What remains is less a representation of the apple than its imprint: a trace suspended between physical presence, cultural memory, and the present.
